The current placement is ongoing and conducted at North Kesteven School, Lincoln.
The placement includes a 20-hour programme of multi-skills activities with an emphasis of providing gifted and talented year 7 pupils with access to an extra-curricular multi-sports club. Each session will focus upon either: one or multiple aspects of the multi-ability ‘assessment wheel’ (see below).
It has been decided that the ability of health will not be included and assessed within the SoW due to the nature of the programme; it would not be ethically possible to assess any health improvements due to the short and limited time-scale of the programme. In addition, It has been decided that the physical ability will also be omitted from the programme and will not receive direct attentional focus. This is because the four remaining abilities will all significantly contribute, albeit indirectly, to improving the participants’ physical abilities over the 20 hour period.
- Maximum of 26 participants
- Fairly even split of males to females
- All participants are G&T in PE – year 7 pupils (KS3)
- Variety of equipment available
- Small sports hall – 2 x badminton courts in size
Participants were identified by the school’s PE teachers and the Head of the PE department. Their selection process was based on choosing the participants who have displayed aspects of ‘gifted’ and ‘talented’ over the current PE programme. For further information; please consult the supervisor interview section of the needs analysis.
